When you’re out of inspiration - make a cover! This is one of the demo tracks of my old TCB Tracker software on the Atari ST. The original is probably made by “The Carebears” group that made the tracker, but who knows? I tried to stay close to the original, but the result became rather more like Laserdance or something. Not that it is anything wrong with that, of course.
The studio is finally a cousy place to be again and everything seems to be working fine (except for an awfully buggy installation of Winamp that I got rid of without much regret. Wasn’t Winamp a good piece of software once?).
To get used to the new studio environment, I have been messing around with some old Cubase projects. Here is a new version of what could probably be called a trance track, made in 2006 while messing around with Vanguard presets. I never liked the intro on the old mix, so it got changed for the better. I also applied some new filters and EQ settings. Average
My studio has been a sorry mess the last couple of years. Cables and boxes all over the place, and a computer in dire need of re-installing and -organising. Most of this has now been taken care of. Just some wrestling around with cables left.
I’ve also bought a new sound interface, a Lexicon Omega, which allows for 4 channels being recorded simultaneously. My old ESI Juli@ card is neat latency-wise, but doesn’t get along well with my graphics card, making wierd noises and it also has too few inputs. The Omega might have been a risky choice, considering the trouble many owners have with it (see this thread for some horror stories), but it suited my needs rather perfectly. If it starts acting up, I’ll hopefully be able to fix it using some hints in that thread.
